Dear Parents,

Cooking Expedition for Grade IX ICSE and IGCSE – An Exhilarating Experience

This session, Scottish High brings the great cooking experience for Grade IX ICSE and IGCSE highlanders. Our young budding cooks would be experiencing the fun of cooking in groups and enjoying the sumptuous meals prepared by them on Monday, 31st October 2011 at 4.15 pm. This initiative is an incredible opportunity to cultivate team spirit, set performance goals, complement each other’s skills and finally inculcate mutual accountability through coordination and effective communication.  Each group would be evaluated by a panel of judges, who would declare the winners based upon the overall presentation, quality of food, discipline and coordination amongst the group mates.

The basic menu for this culinary activity would be as follows-

  1. Salad
  2. Rice Dish
  3. Vegetable (with/ without gravy) – Vegetarian or Non Vegetarian
  4. Dal

Any add ons to the above is welcome and would invite special points for the group. It is at the discretion and the consensus of the group to opt for vegetarian or non vegetarian menu. Each group is required to carry their own cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery, serving trays, bowls, dishes, aprons, napkins and any other miscellaneous crockery as required. All required vegetables, groceries including the spices and garnishing shall also be arranged by the students. Also kindly ensure to carry soap and scrubber to clean the utensils.

All heating arrangements and mineral water to cook the meal shall be provided by the school. There would be a team of sports teachers, class teachers and medical assistants present for supervision. However, kindly note that this cooking expedition would be a group endeavour and no assistance in terms of cooking the meals would be provided by the staff members.

Parents are requested to pick up their children from the school premises at 8.00 pm sharp.

Dress Code for students- All students are required to come in their clan T- shirt and a pair of jeans for ease and comfort.

We wish the students all the very best for this thrilling expedition and we are sure that this initiative would be a unique learning experience in itself for every student.

Dear Parents,

An ancient Chinese proverb goes like this:

If you plan for a year – Sow paddy

If you plan for a decade – Plant tress

If you plan for generations-Nurture youth

And NCC, the most vibrant and largest uniformed youth organization in the world is doing precisely that – NURTURING YOUTH. We at Scottish High are proud to be a part of this premier youth organization. The NCC today represents the spirit of true secular and united India and is indeed a nursery of our future young citizens. It has nurtured millions of our youth into responsible sons of the soul.

The aim of NCC is to develop character, comradeship, discipline, secular outlook and the spirit of adventure among our youth. The corps achieves this aim by providing multi-faceted avenues for indoor & outdoor useful activities. The NCC also provides suitable environment to motivate young ones to take up the glorious career in the Armed Forces.

We continue to be affiliated to NCC. As of now we have two half troops of NCC junior boys and girls. With continuing positive response from the students and their parents, we plan to double the strength during next academic year.

The NCC training comprises institutional training conducted within school premises and camp training where in a cadet during his two years in NCC is required to attend at least one outdoor camp of ten days duration. In our school the NCC training is inter-woven twice a week in our school academic programme only during activity periods in such a manner that it does not interfere with our educational curriculum. Let me assure you that two years of NCC with Scottish High will pave the way for your child to remain physically fit and mentally robust throughout his life.

Hoping for your earnest co-operation and wishing your child good luck and good speed with Scottish fraternity.
