Date of Visit: 24th July, 2025
Venue: Senior School ICT Lab
Our school had the privilege of hosting representatives from the School of Visual Arts (SVA), New York, for an interactive session with students aspiring to pursue careers in visual arts and design. The session focused on guiding students through the application process and portfolio requirements for admission to undergraduate programs at SVA.
The visiting team provided valuable insights into the wide range of courses offered at SVA, including graphic design, animation, fine arts, photography, and illustration. They emphasized the importance of developing a strong and original portfolio, tailored to each student’s personal style and creative vision. Step-by-step guidance on what to include, how to present work, and common mistakes to avoid was also shared.
In addition to portfolio tips, the representatives outlined application procedures, important deadlines, scholarship opportunities, and what SVA looks for in potential candidates. The session concluded with a Q&A segment, where students had the opportunity to clarify their doubts and receive personalized advice.
The visit proved to be extremely informative and inspiring, particularly for students in Grades 11 and 12 who are considering studying art and design abroad. It not only broadened their understanding of global creative education but also motivated them to begin preparing their portfolios with focus and intent.
