The Inter-Clan MFL (Modern Foreign Languages) Spell Bee Competition for Grade 7 was held with great enthusiasm and competitive spirit. The event brought together the four clans — Anderson, Boyd, Lamont, and MacArthur, for an engaging and intellectually stimulating contest that showcased the students’ vocabulary, pronunciation, and translation skills in their respective languages- French, German and Spanish.
The participants were required to read aloud the given word and pronounce the correct spelling in their chosen foreign language. This tested their accuracy, pronunciation, and familiarity with the language. They also translated a given word from English into their respective foreign language, assessing their comprehension and vocabulary retention. This round highlighted their linguistic understanding and quick-thinking abilities. In the visual round, participants were shown pictures and had to identify and name them in their foreign language. This tested their ability to connect visual cues with correct vocabulary usage.
Throughout the competition, the audience was engaged and supportive, cheering for their clans while appreciating the linguistic talents on display. Each clan displayed remarkable preparation, teamwork, and confidence.
The MFL Spell Bee not only encouraged healthy competition but also fostered a love for languages and cultural learning among students. It served as an excellent platform for them to enhance their listening, speaking, and vocabulary skills in a fun and interactive way.
